Making Music has relied on traditional funding sources for financial support. These include: Commercial Sponsorship, Arts CouncilLottery FundsArts & Business. Information describing these schemes is included on this Website.

However due to the increase in expectation and budgetary restrictions many public sector service providers are finding it difficult to meet the demand for services which is being placed under further pressure by demographic changes. Much has been written recently regarding this problem which is expected to become more acute over the next 20 years. One way of mitigating the problem is to make greater use of the volunteer sector. Making Music South East is developing links with a number of Regional Agencies to identify areas in which the members of MM affiliated groups may support programmes in the areas of Arts & Health, Education, Social Support and Economic Development & Regeneration. This activity will earn funding for the MM Groups who take part in these initiatives.

Many of these non traditional funding streams can only be accessed at sub-regional and district level although the programmes themselves maybe a National Initiative. Fund holders may require MM groups to form local partnerships and the configuration of the schemes may vary. Nevertheless substantial opportunities exist for MM Groups to access funds. MM South East are actively investigating these opportunities and details will be posted on this website. Advice and support on preparing bids for these funding streams is also available.
